I'd be happy to choke the bastard to death with my bare hands, but this precedent is another piece of America sliced away. I fail to see how this helps protect us. Any terrorist can download a virus or "evil document" via anonymous e-mail anyway. Unless the NSA already spies on all internet traffic already and physically carrying a laptop is the best way. I believe monitoring the internet for such small files is not feasible for many obvious reasons. That leaves one explanation: They do it because they can. Bastards!

Yeah, this like saying ban all guns because a murderer used one to commit a crime. You wouldn't support that at all right? Well this shouldn't be supported either... its not really going to stop many criminals as they will very soon find a way around it.

Meanwhile everyone else's right to privacy is further erroded.

There's my million dollar idea.... Disguising flashdrives as shaving cream and toothpaste so you can secret them in your carryon and not have to offer the info to TPTB.

Think of it like this as well:

A member of this forum recently had his firearm stolen from his checked luggage by an airport employee or TSA official. Now who's to say they won't steal the information off your laptop for whatever use they see fit?

Anti-American years ago. Now, sadly, it's all too American.

This is getting really ridiculous and wrong.

I wish we had the guts to do what the Thais did, before it's too late.
