Orlando range experience

I agreed to meet a guy at East Orange Shooting Sports in Orlando this AM so he could test fire an H&R 22lr revolver I had for sale. When I arrived, I explained this to the gentleman behind the counter. He stated that I had to fill out the paperwork . I figured this was for insurance/liability purposes. After the guy fired my gun and decided he wanted to buy it, I went to the counter to get my drivers license, which you have to leave when you shoot. I was then informed that I owed a range fee of $9.53. FOR WHAT? I wasn't even in there 10 minutes and I DIDN'T SHOOT. He said it didn't matter. I entered the range area. Why couldn't he tell me this when I first arrived. Bascially, I had to pay $9.53 to watch someone else shoot my gun.
My question to all of you. Do other ranges have this practice.
Do I feel like I was screwed.OH YES.
WIll I return to East Orange Shooting Sports. OH NO.

most of our ranges have shooting by the day. I have a membership to a local outdoor range and I take other people with me all the time. If they don't shoot they don't pay. Most of them shoot a few rounds and don't get caught.

I joined a range. Annual fee, but no daily fees, and I can bring up to 5 guests at a time. It's not forbidden to keep bringing the same guest, but the range does suggest that if you bring the same guest more than twice, they need to join also (immediate family excluded...you can bring them as often as you want).

Oh yeah, it's an outdoor range, so it's 7 days a week, 7 am to sundown.

That soundsa lot like the Birchwood range here in AK. Family members were the only ones allowed without paying. As members we also have Monday and teusday where it is members only!! next to no one there!

The thing is, I didn't shoot. I took a gun there so another PAYING customer could shoot it. So basicallty, I had to pay to watch someone else shoot my gun. I'll be joining a private shooting range next week.

ps- the range i go to is free because im a member..otherwise it is 12 bucks a day.. my uncle and i shot.. for a few hours the other day and also got 6 targets..it turned out to be..i think 21 bucks for both of us.. i think they gave us a break.

I know, I know. That is lame. I am sorry. Join the private range and you will be alright.

There is a nice outdoor range about 5 miles from my house. It comes highly recommended by some guys I've shot with before. I'll be contacting them on monday.

The public ranges near me only charge you if you rent a lane to shoot. a non shooting coach is also allowed on the lane with the shooter, You can also stand at the glass and observe all you want with no fee.
If the guy who was test firing your gun paid for range time you should have not been charged. I do understand that someone had to pay for the time but not both. On the other hand the public ranges around here are very fair, if you are a good customer will let you borrow a lane for a few min at n/c.
I have belonged to a private club for >23 years and highly recomend it. Our club makes you a life memeber after 20 years so you can use the facilities for the rest of your life free. The beer at the bar is cheep too
