sell a gun to a non permit holder?

My brother would like to purchase one of my handguns. He doesn't have a permit to purchase and is about to move out of state. How do I go about selling the handgun to him so he can register it at his new address? Thanks guys Kendall

What is this permit to purchase and registration of which you speak?

Free staes allow people to make these choises freely for themselves.

Seriously though. Only you can make that discision. Here in Wyoming the state does not get into a private indeviduals rights to that extent. All I can say is that if you are not comfortable selling to your brother, don't.

What he said /\

Same here in Idaho. it isnt any body's business who I sell my stuff to including my guns. Non of my business where they move to or what they do after it is sold. But there are some who I wouldn't sell to. Some people don't have enough sense to pour piss out of a boot let alone handle a firearm.

I totally trust and know my brother. I just want to make sure he has no problems when he moves to colorado and wants to register it. I purchased it quite a while back and in nebraska I believe when a handgun is purchased by a permit holder at a store it is automatically registered to that person. I just want to make sure we have our bases covered.

I think I wouldn't sell if a permit is required to purchase and he is lacking.

How are the laws worded on that matter? if he just has to register it in a certain time span, then that's no problem.

A better option might be to bring it with when you visit him in his new state, head to a FFL together and do it legally.

most laws are written such that there is no need for anything like that.

Well, it looks like he just needs to get a Firearm Purchase Certificate. I didn't see anything about registering the gun once he has the certificate. It looks like the certificate is good to purchase handguns until it expires, not one per gun like here in michigan. Once he moves to colorado, I dunno what he has to do.
