Paranoid on Sep 11th?

I was on the road during Sep 10th through the 12th. It was a 400 mile round trip that I have made many times in the past.

I always travel armed. I usually just pick up one handgun, do a quick check, and hit the road.

This time was different. I picked up two handguns. I field striped the weapons, recleaned and lubed them. I unloaded and reloaded each mag plus packed up an extra mag for each one. Threw an extra box of ammo in the car.

Thank the Lord they weren't needed.

Probably just that "be prepared" training you've had. never hurts to be prepared. Being prepared and situational awareness are key to everyday life.

I wouldn't call it paranoid. You just sensed that the security threat was potentially higher over this period and were making sure that you took some additional steps to be prepared.

With that said though, I would encourage you & others to carry on with life and not bunker down. Point being, I would avoid flying because I was afraid terrorists were going to strike. Or avoid malls for the same reason. You get the point. If we take these actions, then they have indeed won.

I wouldn't call handguns paranoid. Now if you went out and welded an M60 on top of your car, then I'd wonder.

I wouldn't say paranoid, but I did get a little emotional driving to work monday morning. A few of the morning shows were replaying their original 9-11 broadcast, and to hear everyone talking about it and trying to figure it out, knowing what we all know now, was a little weird. I got chill bumps listening to it.

I did the normal thing, which is to grab the XD and put it in my laptop bag and sit it in the passenger seat next to me. I keep a few extra mags in the car and in the bag.

But just wonder....I mean, after all, who hasn't at some point wish for that kind of firepower when some schmuck cut you off..again. Or has his music thumpin'....

Actually I'd be more paranoid about some brainless and reckless drivers on the road than some terrorists. the former definitely poses a more valid threat as far as I am concerned.

You said it all! Man, if they're not jacking away on a cell phone, messing with their hair, trying to smack the kid in the back seat....and that's just the GUYS! The gal's are even worse! Had one the other day - out on the highway, doing at least 70 in a 55. I swear, she was trying to eat her BigMac, talk on the phone, and put on makeup all at the same time! Never fails to amuse me - as long as I'm not driving next to them......
