Traveling and carrying....
I travel frequently for work and usually go to a state that honors Colorado's CC permit, but I usually leave the gun at home since I'm only gone for a few days at a time.
What do you guys think? Is it worth checking it at the airport to have it for a few days out of town?

I've never had a problem with the airport and never had a problem. I dunno, maybe I'll take it, maybe I won't.

You know if I could be absolutely sure that the other state would not prosecute me for doing so I would. You need to go to www.packing.org and check out the gun laws for all of the assocciated states in question. As for guns in airline bagage that go missing........
That thread is above my post.

Take it from personal experience
If you feel you absolutely MUST check your gun find a way to lock it in your suitcase. I suggest a heavy duty bycicle lock run through the handle of the gun case and into the frame of the suitcase. Additionally, consider purchasing the insurance (about 25 dollars) when you fly to make sure the airline watches your bag more carefully.

Well, you've gotta check them, that's the only way to get them on. They have to be put in a lockable case anyway. I have a host of Pelican cases that I use for just this.

airlines
I traveled with my gun last year. Checking my bag was uneventful. Told the lady at the checked baggage counter I was taveling with a gun, The TSA officer inspected the contents of my gun case, and put an orange tag inside of it. two days later I was blasting watermelons in the Colerago Rockies.
