Both have a purpose. That hood scoop feeds air to the intercooler. Pretty important for a turbo car. The problem is that it is not as efficient as a front mount intercooler. Large I/C's don't make for lots of lag. Wondering if a turbo upgrade happened too? Custom chip? Maybe a poor I/C design?

I get 8 mpg at the track. On the highway I get over 30. Usually I am around 22 - 24 mpg with mixed driving. Depends a lot if some V8 SUV doesn't understand I don't drive a Honda 1.5 liter.

and on subarus defense, some people REALLY beat the crap out of their trans dropping the clutch at every light and then wondering why they strip off 1st or 2nd.
I've got a nephew that's building race transmissions for quite a few of the Japanese imports and a couple others. Here's his website if you're in need of his services or know someone who might be. Tell him some guy with an old Fiat X1/9 sent you there. He'll get a kick out of that.

Yeah, He's pretty much a one and a half man operation. He spreads himself out pretty thin, definately knows his stuff though. He recently got a couple of cnc's going making some of his own parts and modding others to his specs.
