Its pretty common that most indoor ranges around here do not allow rapid fire. There are too many people that can not control their gun while rapid firing and are dangerous to everyone else and/or damage the lane.
The range I shoot at does allow rapid fire. But if they see you out of control, missing your target or are dangerous then they will stop you. They does not allow drawing from the holster unless you are a member and have been "safety checked". I'm not a member yet so I don't get to draw from my holster. Their membership is on the expensive side, $300 a year. The lane fee is $12, no time limit. I will probably buy a membership soon, if I bought one at the beginning of this year it would have paid for its self by now.

THe ranges I go to have similar rules.....but they only apply to non regulars. Those that go regularly, and are friends of the employees/owner get special treatment. But then again, I have never hit a taget hanger. And the only thing we rapid fire is usualy .223 or .22lr. They do allow full auto also.....Acutaly they revoked shotguns because me a my firend.... The waddings clogged up their system.

Every indoor range that I have been at has some type of rule against rapid shots. However, some do make exceptions for:
1. Members that have proven the ability to do so without creating an "unsafe" environment. (usually not a written exception due to legal/insurance issues) 2. We were allowed to do rapid fire in the CCW class I took because we were with a certified instructor. 3. I've seen exceptions for law enforcement and military personell at some ranges. One range master that I talked to said that the main reason for the signs is that the range is covering their backside in the instance that someone gets injured/killed by someone that can't handle doing rapid fire. By having the signs, it helps to take the liability off of the range and put it on the shooter and seems to keep the insurance company happy. |

Indoor ranges here allow "double taps" but no rapid fire. One second between shots is the norm.
One range does not allow hollow point ammo.

some indoor ranges here allow rapid fire as long as you're in "control" of the firearm and you should be shooting on a large target paper. headshots okay but 1 sec apart.

The indoor and outdoor ranges I used to go to in Texas never allowed rapid fire, up here in Oregon though the indoor range I go to allows rapid fire for pistols and rifles. Its a real hoot. The outdoor range allows rapid fire and drawing from a holster (its a real perk to be able to practice your complete shooting motion.)

We have one indoor range here that charges $2 if you put a hole in the hanger. Seems to be made of cardboard covered in 1/2 inch of duct tape which they replace if you do shoot it.
They also provide a roll of masking tape or stapler per lane because the hangers really aren't and that's how you have to mount the targets.
