My wife's first trip to the shooting range...[LOTS OF PICS]

This morning I took my wife to the shooting range for the first time.

This is the pistol range.

I stupidly forgot my XD-9 Subcompact, so we spent the whole time shooting my Marvel Unit 2 conversion .22.

I ran a couple magazines through it to make sure it was running fine.

I like the muzzle flash in this shot.

Then my wife took over. Her first efforts at stance and grip were a little funny, but with a little instruction, she settled right in.

Here you can see our target. The plates are about 8 inches across, about 25 yards away. Once she stopped yanking the trigger, and learned how to smoothly pull it straight back, she was dropping those plates like a pro.

I took another turn, and found my rhythm. Dropped 3 plates in a row.

After an hour or so of shooting, we stopped to eat our lunch. Cheese and crackers, homemade beef jerky, baby carrots, and a granola bar.

Lizby kept her shooting glasses on to protect her from that high-speed peanut butter and honey sandwich.

While we were taking our break, my wife caught me wiping down my face...it was HOT!

After we ate, we ran through a couple more boxes of .22 ammo, trading off every couple of magazines. Lizby got several "action" shots of me shooting, with the ejected casings in mid-air.

By 1 o'clock, it was just too hot to stay out there, so we packed up our stuff, and headed home. The best part was hearing my wife say that it had been one of our most fun dates ever, and that she can't wait to get back out there and try the 9mm.

Looks like a fun afternoon.

Having a .22 around is a good call. My wife and I love to shoot together and go to the range every chance we get. But it gets expensive. A .22 would make things alot cheaper.

Thats awesome date - taking my wife out to my local range soon. Same idea - .22lr, but have an XD-9SC for her to try as well. Great pix also, that muzzle flash pix would be a great screensaver/avatar, etc.

You did good for the first trip...took the right gun and everything. You know how to have a good time...might stay with that .22 for a while, and then no bigger than 9mm.

Looks like y'all had a great time. Thinkin I should take along a small cooler next time I visit the outdoor range. A little lunch makes for a nice break. Good idea!
Enjoyed the pics.
