You are much more likely to be pulled over in a very small town for "nit picking", than you are in a city. In the city, there is usually a very good reason. I won't say any more, because I don't want to offend good police officers.

i guess it depends on the town. i've lived in small towns where the cop would wave and as you sped by, only later to have a drink with you at the bar...i've lived in big cities where the cops don't care about anything unless you're actually hurting/destroying someone/thing. now i live in a medium city with way too many cops, and some much-mis-directed police enforcement....half the reason i bought a gun and got a ccw license...

don't get me wrong. i like cops, for the most part. but it seems like they'd rather stop the kid skateboarding on private property than stop the drug deal going on around the corner. i'm no leo, but i see more crime every day than i'd like to.

The police officers in this town like to "play it safe". The detectives are lazy, and just send the papers over to the young female asst. D.A., who is "slobbering at the mouth" to try to "play the game" and put more "gold stars on the board", against the defense lawyers. This negligence costs innocent people a lot of money for legal fees, as well as ruining a lot of lives. Not any real investigation on false accusations at all. I was always pro police, and still am. I realize this is an isolated situation here.

I've had three speeding tickets. I'd like to say that I didn't, but I deserved the first one. I won't argue that I wasn't speeding when I got the other two, but I don't agree that speeding is always unsafe. My g/f was with me the last time I got a ticket and she was pretty furious with me, but she did admit that I was driving a perfectly reasonable speed for the road we were on (and I would have been going the speed limit if I was just a mile further down the road).

I'm always polite to the officer and I pay my tickets, but it irks me that police departments put so much emphasis on ticketing speeders because it is easy and stands up well in court, but they let more dangerous things go because they are difficult to prosecute. The murder rate here is soaring, but I here more about police out on the interstates ticketing speeders than I do about any efforts against the murderers.

Unfortunately, that's what a lot of the LEO's around my town are like too. They prowl the streets for anyone (especially anyone under the age of 30 or so) doing anything remotely wrong. But, when you actually need them (robbery, domestic violence, etc) they are nowhere to be found or take an hour or two to arrive. I don't mean to be bitter, but some of them around here are way more interested in meeting their ticket quota than preserving peace and order.

When the police give a ticket for speeding, they are doing their job, however, I have too many times seen people make a left turn from the slow lane, in front of a leo, who does nothing. I have seen many a person run a stop sign or light in front of a leo, who does nothing. If your car breaks down on the road, they require you TOW it within a short period of time, or they will have it towed, even if it is on the side of the road. I guess what I am saying is, it does seem like the emphasis is on speed tickets.

Granted , I have had the police respond IN FORCE when I call in a drunk or eratic driver.

Of course people. like all things, its about money. suburban cops are all traffic fairies, while the cops in the bad neighborhoods, getting shot at, are the one's i really respect. For example, here in NE Ohio, i can be in east Cleveland and do 60mph down a side street no problem. however, drive through shaker heights at night going 6/7 mph over the posted limit and you can get nailed. Inner city cops have too much else to focus on besides sitting in the bushes with the radar gun going at 2am. They WANT to catch speeders, not just deter them or they wouldn't hide. Just seeing a cop car will make 99% of people tap the brakes. Hiding shows intent for entrapment.

Been pulled over 5 times in the last 3 1/2 years for speeding and missing a new stop sign and 0 tickets. If I was in the next state over my insurance would be through the roof from tickets. In reality I’d watch my speed closer after the first ticket.

If you don't have warrants they tell you to slow down and send you on your way. They obviously aren't trying to extract $ from my back pocket. They seem more interested in looking for bad guys.

I wish they'd pull over more bicycles....They go down the road the wrong direction, pull in front of you at intersections and fly down the sidewalks. I was taught if you are on a bike follow the same laws as cars. Dismount the bike and you are instantly a pedestrian.

I disagree with this statement. Entrapment is when they are luring you into doing something illegal. I am sure there isn't a LEO sitting next you in the passenger seat saying "go faster, go faster, go faster wuss".

I guess I am in the minority here but if I get a speeding ticket I more than likely deserve it. It's funny my wife gets pissed and starts in on cops having nothing better to do. I tell her that it's their job to do that. I was the one speeding, why would I get mad at them. I think more people should own up to thier mistakes.
