surefire lights

I just got a surefire flashlight today and I'm curious to know the manual says it has 60 min runtime. Does anyone know if that's how long the bulb will last before it burns out or is that how long it runs before you need to shut it off. Because if the bulbs only last an hour before they burn out I don't see how they can be dependable.

Sure, the non-led Surefires suck batteries, but they're not built for runtime. They're built to chuck apeloads of blinding white light at whatever attacker/rescuee/passing helicopter you're trying to reach out and touch. My G2 absolutely illuminates any room, and if you buy direct from Surefire in bulk, a change of batteries only costs about $3.00.

The bulb should last you a while. I've used my G2 quite a bit, and the bulb is still going. Now, if my tail cap wouldn't have broke the light would still work. One thing to remember though, don't set the light face down while on. The lens gets very hot and it can melt or harm a surface. This is especially true if left like this for a long time.

In my experience, the surefire non-led lights say they have a 60 minute runtime, but I don't think that's at peak output. I do think you would probably get 40 mins at peak though, which is still pretty good. As stated before, the lights aren't meant really to be used for long periods. They are designed more as a flick on to see something then turn off. If you want a light to be used for long periods of time, I'd suggest an LED. I don't know about the surefire LED lights as I do not have one. I do however have a streamlight, and some other brand of one. Both are very bright and easily illuminate a room and will do so much longer than an ordinary bulb light. And they don't get quite as hot. I think the surefire lights would be just as bright, especially the ones that don't have the projector lens on the glass which doesn't throw much side light.

Thanks for the answer's currently I'm using a Inova X5 flashlight I really do like them but they also drain batteries fairly quickly that and you can only see about 15 ft with it.

I have two G2s and love them. Keep one in the truck and the other near the pistola in the house for night security. Haven't had any troubles from either unit. I have the yellow and black versions.

Order your batteries from Surefire and get their neat little carrying case for batteries- I keep this in the glovebox of my truck and its very handy.

Yes, their estimated runtime is very close to the life I am getting out of their batteries.

Got the G2Z here. I love the little thing and have had no problems with it, although I have not really had to keep it on too much. I'm still running the original batteries I bought for it back in April.

My wife, youngest daughter and I have the E2E, but we have it in the satin grey finish. It is similar to the black one except in two respects: It's $80 vs $95. It's Type II anodized rather than Type III, which means the process is not as hard.

Since I'm retired, I don't need the tactical black Type III. We haven't had any problems with the bulbs, but they are only a few weeks old. I had to get a new end cap from Surefire as mine wouldn't click and stay on from day one; only the momentary worked. They sent me a new one in 3 days.

I bought my eldest daughter the Green G2 today.
