Indoor Shooting Ranges
the indoor range near me requires i purchase their lead free/frangible ammo. i wonder if that is a state/local requirement or just that this particular range requires it themselves? maybe the indoor range i go to wasn't designed or reinforced to handle standard lead ammo? you can shoot pistols and rifles there. is it fairly common or standard practice to require frangible ammo at indoor ranges?
how about you guys?
does the indoor range you go to allow you to bring your own non-frangible ammo?
are you allowed to shoot both pistols and rifles at your indoor range or does yours only allow pistols?

My local indoor range allows you to bring your own pistol ammo, but rifle range ammo must be purchased onsight as the backstops cannot prevent steel core ammo. Not too unreasonable, afterall they are looking out for their safety, my safety and anyone else's in the near vicinity...their prices are usually comparable to everywhere else also...

I can bring my own ammo, shoot up to .223 and 12 gauge buck. The only time you have to buy their ammo is when you are shooting their guns.

Bring my own, but it makes sense. Breathing in lead is pretty nasty.

I work in an indoor range. There are multiple kinds of bullet traps but basically 2 ideas.... Steel that stops the bullet and in the process powders up lead and gets really nasty or rubber that absorbs the force but ends up costing a lot more money.
The range I work at uses 3 feet of rubber and industrial air movers that replace the air every 83 seconds. Just the air filters cost about $150,000 for 24 lanes. But where I work you can shoot any thing under 50 BMG

sounds like their air filter is sub par, its about the lead which is softer on the range, harsher on humans.
