I think I'm starting to see why Bloomberg is so anti-gun. ...

Jesus Christ. I'm pro-law enforcement, but after recent incidents, maybe Bloomberg should focus on an NYPD training reform instead of his gun crusade.

No doubt the Blooming idiot should focus on an NYPD training reform

This didn't appear to be brutality, just sheer negligence, but it happens all the time.
So sad.
This vid got me pretty hyped, you have to take some of it with a grain of salt... but damn! TRAINING ALL AROUND PLEASE!!!!!!

This is the sort of the thing the NYPD has to take on themselves. The LEO's need to go through their representatives and demand more and better training. If not the press will eat them alive. Some may wind up in serious jeopardy departmental or maybe even legal.

That video really pisses me off, and I support law enforcement (generally), and there are usually two sides to each story.
That said, a LOT of these are clear abuse.
Clearly, there are officers in that video who deserve more than having someone pulling a camera on them... MANY should be jailed & fired. It is insane to run up to a teen and slam her into a wall, beat someone who is already on the ground, push someone off their bicycle, or hit them with a police car....
^^^ These officers make other officers look bad, and it pisses me off.

Taking a step back and looking at the situation objectively, it seems pretty clear that all of these incidents are a result of the persistent militarization of our police. This starts with preference being given to ex-military personnel and continues with the Federal government equipping local departments with military weapons.
There is a very important reason why military should never be used for domestic policing. The military is there to defend us against external threats from other nations. Police are there to enforce civil laws. When military tactics and ex-military personnel (without rigorous training in constitutional law) are employed by civilian police, then the citizens of this nation suddenly start looking like enemies of The State...

I'm pro-law enforcement to the bone.
But I believe it to be no small coincidence that most, if not all, of these examples are in cities and states with the most repressive gun laws.
