Assuming Matt Stafford can manage to not get hurt (doubtful, given his history) and less than four guys are on Calvin Johnson at the same time, Detroit's going to be a contender this year. I'm expecting big plays to come from the Lions this year.

I just watched a special on Calvin Johnson last night. That guy is a beast!!

Yes he is. He's definitely got potential to be one of the best receivers of all time. I've always compared watching him make an awesome end-zone catch over 2 defenders to watching Barry Sanders run a ball around an entire team, racking up 40 yards of rushing from the 20 yard line.

I know the Packers are a good team. But they were better last year and got put out of the playoffs early....
We'll see how they do this year. I think folks better watch out for the Cowboys this year. They have a powerful offense, and the defense has been upgraded tremendously. They have a real shot at going deep into the playoffs if they stay healthy....

If Alex Smith takes even another small step forward and utilizes our new offensive talents then the 49ers will be a force to be reckoned with. I have all the confidence in the world that Patrick Willis and Justin Smith will have the defense in line and Aldon Smith will be a full timer now.
Time to smack the Packers in the mouth Sunday. I hope we are on a roll by mid-October when I fly out west to catch the NFC championship rematch.
