Help!! Dog sprayed by skunk!!
So, this morning at approx 0530, my dog Mojo was sprayed point blank by a skunk. Then he proceeded to run through the house rubbing those rancid oils into the carpet. So, because I needed to get ready for work, the wife and I threw him in the tub and washed him with what little tomato juice we had (as directed by every wives tale you've ever heard) and left for work.
Well, one can imagine what the house smelled like once we got home, approx 10 hours later. How does one get rid of this horrible odor!?!? I have my CCW class tomorrow and I fear getting kicked out for smelling so horrible!!!

oh man that's bad. I just happened to overhear a conversation yesterday where a guy said his dog had been hit 6 times this year. He tried just about everything and the one thing he found that worked was peroxide and baking soda. So I would suggest for your house to try some oxyclean carpet cleaner, and for the dog a mixture of the baking soda and peroxide.

We live in the country and this works the best..As far as your house you may try something similar find an Ozone generator to rent.. I have had one for years..They work

I don't have any practical experience with this problem, but I've always heard that a tomato juice bath works.

That is when the effin dog learns to live outside . Some say hydrogen peroxide works to remove the odor.

It happened to my heeler about a month ago. Hydrogen peroxide or vinegar 32ozs,baking soda 1/3cup,one teaspoon dish soap.
The trick is to get your pup wet and washed before the skunk oil dries it worked like a charm for us

Have trapped and done animal damage for 30 plus years. Best thing for your house is airing it out and make your dog stay out until the essence dries the (green stuff). It's a thick oil. It can be washed out of your dog . Jbarb has the recipe , soak the crap out of your dog, when washing. As for your house might have to shampoo the carpet and furniture. Need to remove the skunk, it won't belong before they start trying to find new winter living quarters. They love under buildings

Mine got skunked on wed morning, best home remedy is 1 qt hydrogen peroxide , 1 cup baking soda and 2 tbl spoons Dawn dish soap mix in a bucket only. Apply to dog let sit for 5 min. Works wonders
