Am I acting entitled?
The girl at the business office looks at me like I'm crazy because I ask if there is free parking for volunteers. 'You want us to PAY for your parking?' Well, I guess that sounds a little worse saying 'get free parking'. Is this too much to ask? Is parking such a luxury that I shouldn't be surprised to find people staring stunned at me when I ask for it?

Entitled? IDK. You said 'volunteer,' so I assume you are giving your work for free? Maybe asking for parking is not asking for much, but maybe parking is really expensive and maybe you aren't doing very much. Insufficient info. Anyway, just asking a factual question is not acting entitled. Getting all pissy about it and making a stink when they say No, that's acting entitled.

Acting entitled if you want the charity to pay for your parking, your fine if simply inquiring if parking is waived for vols.

Well she gave me the look right after my question and immediately took an incredulous tone so I reserve the right to be pissy on Xdtalk that probably annoyed me more than the refusal itself which IMO (which I also reserve the right to) is dumb because they have skyhigh rates and tons of empty spaces and volunteers in another building get it for free with 0 probs.

If you ask Obama, you should get free food, medical insurance, birth control (perhaps free sex?), and pay along with the free parking.

A- On this site if you have to ask that question, the answer from the hive is yes.
B- Nah, not at all. You're showing up to work for free for someone. While its not a "constitutional right" for them to pay for your parking or anything, you're certainly not out of bounds for asking. It sounds like she has an attitude problem.

"Voulunteers" give FREE service to the community so why not get a free service in return? Sounds reasonable to me what you're asking but I don't know all the circumstances behind it. Such as, is this business benefiting in any way from the volunteer services? If so, I don't see why the business doesn't offer it in the first place.

Seems very reasonable.I've heard of many bands that do charity concerts and charge for the expenses of getting there equipment to and fro.
