Wasn't a great article. The author just stated the CDC exposed myths. He failed to list any examples or provide links to the studies. I was hoping for some hard numbers. He's likely referring to the CDC studies that have found no correlation between gun laws and violent crimes.

I'm glad they are driving home the point that stricter gun-control laws haven't helped against violent crime, but I'm confused as to why the Centers for Disease Control was conducting a study on gun-control and gun related violence. Wouldn't that be like the NRA conducting a study on which cars are safest to drive?

This is a letter to the editor. Is there a link to the CDC study that is referred to?

It's my understanding that the CDC is concerned with ALL ways that people can die and conducts research to determine what can get you killed the easiest.

No Proof Gun Laws Reduce Violence - CBS News
I can't find the actual study itself, but the CDC basically said that there aren't enough data.

At the bottom of the article is this
Quote:

As uncomfortable as it may be for the Chicago Sun-Times editorial board to understand, the 2nd Amendment is not about hunting, target shooting or even self defense. It is first and foremost, as intended by the Founding Fathers, a means to keep government in check. Gun-ban advocates may wish to dismiss as paranoid fantasy such notions, but any honest study of history supports this fact. The fact that a totalitarian regime in America seems far-fetched today is precisely because the 2nd Amendment has had the intended and desired effect, and it gives teeth to the rest of our great Constitution. The founders would be considered NRA “extremists” by the Sun-Times editorial board.

which I think sums up our feelings on gun control rather nicely.
