Yeah it seems like these crazies are targeting places that at least in NC you aren't supposed to bring a gun. Last I heard a bar...and now the movie theater... They may want to rethink their gun ban in those types of places.

actually i was referring to the liability of the owners to protect the patrons on their property, since home owners are just as liable for people who hurt themselves on your property. There's insurance for this reason, but i forget what it's called specifically. I had a friend who had that happen to him and ended up owing quite a sum of money in damages because of a little gravel in the driveway.
why should not a business be held to the same liability measures? Their reckless policy endangered many lives, and sadly effectively ended some them without a chance to defend it.

Ok. From what I read it sounded like it was outside.

12 killed, 50 wounded at Aurora movie theater - The Denver Post
Quote:
Corbin Dates and Jennifer Seeger were sitting in the second row of the theater.
During the opening credits, Dates saw someone in the front row answer a phone call and walk to the emergency door in the front of the theater, he said.
Less than an hour later a man, dressed in black and wearing a gas mask and what looked like body armor, marched into the theater through the same emergency exit. He lobbed two canisters and almost instantly the theater filled with smoke.
Dates and Seeger, like everyone else in the theater, thought the man and the smoke were all part of the show, they said. Right as their eyes began to tear up from the smoke, the man fired a shot at the ceiling.
|
One eyewitness thought it was odd that the guy partially went out the exit when talking on the phone. Add it to the situational awareness, "Somebody messing with the exits in a movie theater."

I understand - my issue is simply this: It all comes back to trying to blame the "gun". There will be an effort to ban the "tool" rather than the actor. You could put a dozen loaded guns in the theater - none of them would do anything until an "actor" pulls the trigger. Believe me, the anti-gun crowd will not "waste a good crisis". I have gotten so I cringe every time i here a news story about a "shooting" and pray the shooter wasn't licensed to carry. Interesting thing is, almost without fail, the media emphasizes if there was a "hand gun" involved. The reports I've heard about the theater shooting initially were, "hand gun" and two "long guns". That turned into "hand gun", "shot gun", and "rifle". And finally, it turned into "hand gun", and "assault rifle". So, what is the last impression? The actor used a "hand gun" and "assault rifle" - the next thing out of the gun grabbers mouth will be, "Ban Them!" Wait for it - you'll see.

Pretty sure that only applies in a case where you are asked to leave (for whatever reason), and you refuse, then you are going to get an armed trespass charge.
