Legal Question for TX resident

I live with my elderly grandfather. He fell off a roof and broke his back Christmas week 2010. He's better now and I live her to help "watch over him" not that he really needs it but he's 83. Well his felon son doesn't make good decisions with his jobs and quits when he doesn't like something BEFORE getting another job. I obviously own firearms and somebody was telling me the other day that it's illegal to possess firearms if living with a convicted felon. Is this true? I'm not getting rid of my guns for that waste of space because he can't keep his crap straight. Can anybody shed some light on the legal part of this?

If anybody who reads this and is a convicted felon or knows somebody that is, I apologize, this is not directed at you rather, the pissyness/all around disdain I have for my deadbeat uncle....so don't take any of my "felon" comments personally. Thanks.

Question about guns in the presence of felons
Direct access to a felon

In a safe or locked up, NOT in his posession...ok

Laying out where a felon can get them = no no no

That dude sounds like my baby brother man

I have never personally heard of this myself, but think that a counselor would give ya correct answers.

I would certainly have your weapon securely locked up when not in your possession, or there could be issues if he were to get his hands on it.

Dangit, there's the idea of having a night stand gun, now I need to get a gun safe. I aughta make him buy it for me. I hate to have so much disdain for him because he's a talented art professional but the term "professional" went out the window quickly. He calls my grandfather at least 15 times a day and asks for money. He had already foreclosed on his house and was getting my gpa to help make payments etc. Yeah, partly my grandfathers fault for enabling him but he's not good at saying "no" bless his heart.

I've owned one of those for at least 11 years.
Change the batteries yearly and never a problem..

I have 2 more hidden in the home.

But no felons live here...

While most handgun safes will keep your kids from getting your gun, they won't hardly slow down a determined adult. There are other options that are constructed of much heavier and stronger plate steel, not just sheetmetal. Might be worth looking into if you think he will try to break into it. Be sure to bolt it to something solid.
