Idaho man wearing loin cloth threatens temple worker with sword
BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- Police say a 24-year-old Boise man wearing a loin cloth went to a Hara Krishna Temple and threatened an employee with a samurai sword.
Jeffrey S. Arnold II was arrested Thursday for felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor resisting police.
Authorities say an employee at the temple called police just before 9 a.m. to report that a man wearing a loin cloth over shorts had tried to enter the building carrying a sword and a dagger. Police say Arnold was turned away and threatened the temple employee before leaving.
~snip~
Officers say the man refused orders to get on the ground and had started to unsheathe his sword when they used the Taser.

Really? REALLY? Have people become this weird? And where does one even find a loin cloth these days?

Hara Krishna people are still around? Do they still bother people at airports?

What gets me is how they could clearly misidentify a sword. That's certainly not samurai!

A: As an "aviation enthusiast" I can assure you the media are reliably unreliable at getting facts correct ( even though that is thier job ).
B: The article makes no claim that the sword pictured was the sword used in the incident, just a random sword image from a photobank.

Could also have been the "dagger" they were talking about. There's no scale reference in the photo either. That thing could be 6 inches long for all we know. RTFA

Ever wonder where all those TSA agents came from? They just went from volunteer annoying to paid groping...with uniforms and a retirement plan too.

Loin cloth over shorts...?!?!? THAT'S why he failed. He needed to wear just a loin cloth to succeed. LOL.

The picture seems 'squished'. Unless it's also stretched vertically, that hilt guard seems ridiculously large.

carrying a Japanese style sword and a European style dagger is just in poor taste. If someone is going to carry a Japanese sword, they really should carry the matching wakizashi. its hard to take someone seriously when they don't match.
I suppose that's what you get when they have "$300 and under" chinese made Japanese style swords all over the internet and in shopping malls. an influx of sword violence from easily attainable fully loaded assault swords.
