This came out this morning.. Soft holster, right side waist band? "it just goes off" thru the right side of the girls lung into heart!!

I don't see how thats even possible. I smell something fishy here.

Statistically speaking you are more likely to be shot in Detroit, Chicago (or Springfield) than in Afghanistan

Yup and I live in Detroit, not the suburbs in Detroit. I've seriously gone for my gun over the years more there then in Afghanistan but the difference was in Afghanistan I was shooting.

OC condition 3.... seriously start concealed carrying a revolver. If your worried about capacity the mp revolver has 8 rds so you'd have 7

I got this one figured out. Man was sandwiched by wife in front victim in the back. Victim does the butt drop dance. Husband bends over to stick his face in wife's tata's. Butt dropper is keeping her balance by running hands down side of husband. Boom she goes down. I know the exact dance move cuz I've been there before.

Hum... sounds like the manufacturers need to add a "Hug" safety...

No... Really though there is more to this (sad) story than the news says. Something else happened we aren't being told about. Somehow, I think the trigger was pulled.

Well the XDm has plenty of safety's built into it. I'm not overly concerned that I would accidentally pull the trigger with one loaded as I've always respected guns. I just prefer it because of how I carry. Often times when I get in my car it's not comfortable to have the weapon in its holster so I remove it and place in on the passenger seat, trigger exposed. It would take a crazy accident I know for the trigger to get pulled somehow but I have no worries with it as it is now.

So tell me how it makes it safer?
Haven't although if I was in the UFC I'd be in the heavyweight division. Most BG's don't go for the hardest target with a gun on their hip. Statistically I will never be in a situation requiring I pull my gun as a civilian over my lifetime. If I am part of the roughly 1/3 that have to pull it out most likely I will not have to fire as the BG will change mind quickly. If I am part of the 1/3rd that pull my weapon and then the 1/3rd of them that pull the trigger I'd guess that only 5% of those shootings they'd be on me before I can rack it. If such is the case the 5.25 makes a pretty good fist pack especially with the tungsten rod installed

Nope. An 'el cheapo' neophrene holster.

But Godbee said Parrish's waist holster was made of a soft, neoprene-type material, and it would be possible for the trigger to be pulled while the gun was in it. He also said the barrel direction typically would have been pointing down while holstered. There still is "no justification" for her daughter's death, said McNair, 44.

I think she was kneeling in front of him with his pants open and coming down giving him a "mouth hug". I think she was working it and he was trying to control his IWB and got too excited.
Once again, you have beaten me to my post, Bonehead -_-

Godbee said Parrish's weapon was in a waistholster made of a soft material and worn on the officer’s right side, whichwould have allowed the trigger to be activated. He said there was no indication thatParrish had touched the weapon when it went off.

Accordingto the DetroitNews, the gun, described as a Smith & Wesson M&P 40-calibersemi-automatic, did nothave an external safety, but did have an internal safety in the trigger.

Here's what certified firearms instructorRick Ector told The Associated Press:

"The Smith& Wesson M&P primarily was designed for police and military use. Itdoes not have a safety switch, but the trigger has to be pulled back completelyfor the gun to fire.

If properly holstered, the gun cannot be firedaccidentally."

David Balash, a former Michigan StatePolice firearms examiner, told the AP:

"What's going to be very important here is the angleof the entry of the wound to the victim (and) if there is in fact any gunpowderresidue. I'm having a great deal of difficulty understanding how a weaponthat's pointed at the ground can be turned literally 110 degrees minimum to bein an upward position to strike someone."
Perhaps it was like that angelina jolie movie where she could make bullets curve in flight. I was able to do that once. I aimed at the bullseye and made the bullet drop to the 7 ring.

Even with cheapo nylons, I don't see how the trigger can get pulled if it's covered. They are not that thin. Unless the gun got jostled up and then back down with the trigger hung up on something.
