Travel to Chicago
I have to go to Chicago from Iowa this weekend to pick up my brother inlaw who is returning home on leave from the Navy. My question is, what weapon or personal protection can I take with me. I am a permit holder in Iowa and I know I can't carry my XDm but can I take a knife, pepper spray, or baton?

knife under 2.5in and a can of pepper spray is about all you are allowed. if you want to risk it Illinois does recognize permits from out of state as a FOID card, but chicago has an AWB set in place nothing over 10rds. ill see if i can find the state supreme court case from a few years ago.

The case Claythrower linked to tells me I can have an unloaded gun in a case in my car but I was hoping for something that showed what weapons I could carry on my person while in Chicago/Illinois.

Your best bet? Drive STRAIGHT to the airport, doors locked, windows up. Pick up your brother at the pick up door, unlock ONLY HIS DOOR. Relock door, and get the hell out of ILLINOIS.

you can carry a bigger knife. the funny part is is that the blade needs to be 2.5 inches if your commiting a crime haha. I carry a gerber 06 fast on me when I go in the city. but yea you could carry a knife, pepper spray, but no baton
