The word I got from our SIG rep is that we might get one or two by year end. We already have those presold. By Spring 07 they should be readily available though. Until I get to play with one I don't have an opinion.

Since it's based on the 550 series, I'm sure it's an awesome weapon. I'd love to see one up close.

The Sig 556 is the reason I don't own a Rock River Arms UTE. I'm waiting to purchase one as patiently as I can. It looks good, has the Sig name attached to it, and comes with rails that aren't an aftermarket add-on like I was going to do with the AR. I'm excited.

They are due out sometime this year. However, we dealers who also sell SIG have been pre-ordering them for quite some time. The pre-orders will be filled first and they (SIG) anticipate being "caught up" / readily available sometime in '07.

You may/may not see one sitting on a shelf for sale anytime soon unless a dealer has ordered some without them being sold (doubtful considering the cost).

The 556 is creating quite a bit of buzz.
