Cheapest way to ship a pistol?
Is it cheaper to have an FFL ship a pistol to another FFL or bite the bullet and pay UPS/FedEx their fees to ship it directly to the buyer's FFL?
Been trying to figure out costs. |

You can ship a handgun via postal service (Express Mail) but you have to go complete a form 1508 (downloadable from USPS.com) and you must have your local dealer sign it.
When I do sell a handgun and have to ship it, I only ship to an FFL holder after I receive his/her signed certificate and I always have my local FFL holder record the transfer. Last edited by QCATrader; 07-10-2006 at 07:23 PM. |

FFl's can ship for cheaper; my FFL doesn't have to ship overnight, he can just send it out regular two day mail which costs $8 and change as opposed to $50 for fedex overnight. You might look into an FFL that is willing to help you out.

Sold my 1076 a few months ago and it ended up costing me $90 to have a dealer ship the thing with transfer fees. Really sucked. Won't ever sell another gun online, out of state.

Simple if you are not mailing the gun to an FFL or to a FFL gunsmith(Canyon Creek) you must go through a FFL to ship the gun. He will only ship to another FFL in order to transfer to the person that is buying it. That is the way it will work.
