Nothing like our local weekly car meet getting interrupted by a POS punk kid with a gun robbing people at gunpoint.
Background:
We have a weekly car meet at a shopping center that usually runs 7pm to 11ish. We don't have much snow here so the meets go year round. Attendance includes everybody from the high school teen to folks in their 50's and even families with kids. Cars and bikes from 100HP to over 1000HP.
What happened:
This punk and his girl held up some of the folks at the car meet and forced them to remove their pants before robbing them. Nobody at the meet even realized it was even happening until it was over. Police caught the two a short distance away and arrested them.

You can imagine there was quite an extensive discussion afterwards on the local forums regarding the robbery and people who carry or don't carry as well as those who refuse to carry for fear that it would escalate this type of event into a tragedy of some sort. The fact, is several people do carry at the events, myself OC or CC, and others CC or those with loaded guns in car (which our state allows without license/permit). We even have several police officers from various agencies that attend some of our meets and race gatherings on occasion. Quite a few of us are either active duty military or veterans from one service or another.
Well, at the time of the discussion in the hours following the event, nobody realized that this guy had just been released from jail for a previous event where he DID shoot somebody (unprovoked). This next story we found to be pretty disturbing.

For me, this whole event serves to affirm the right to carry for protection and should help dispel the myth whereby people state that guns for protection "may" incite unecessary violence or escalate crime to a point that results in somebody getting shot unecessarily. Why this guy didn't shoot in this situation, nobody knows. What we do know is that he had no problem doing it before and he'll likely do it again.
