Great shooting. I too grew up shooting Muzzleloader competitions. It looks like he has a great future at it. Shooting this way really starts good fundamentals of breathing, sight alignment and trigger control. Watch out Dad, before too long he will be shooting against the men and making them talk about the new youg gun in town.

Congrats to him. One question, did the rifle just lift off the bag in that one picture? Looks odd hanging there in space. His left hand isn't on it and off the bag, looks like he free handed it.

He had already shot and took his hand down trying to get a glimpse of his target to see where he hit I think. If you look the ramrod guide is actually resting on the block

Can you use a better rest? And keep it off the barrel?

In the picture, if you notice he has the block turned lengthwise... he had it turned the right way 3 of the 5 shots. Then one of his coaches decided to put him on bags, his 4th shot was the farthest away from the center. He then took it upon himself to move the block back , and shot a 10 this way. This picture was taken after the shot and he was actually in the act of coming off the rest to set and rod his rifle to indicate he was finished with the round.

I may have misrepresented that by labeling the picture as shooting.
