You're right, it was the trigger resetting. The guy was actually following through with his shot and waiting to reset the trigger until the shot was completely finished.

Follow through is much more important for a gas gun and piston gun than a bolt action for example. Once the bolt action is fired, it's done. An AR or AK has a lot more going on than a bolt action and more will affect the accuracy. If you're slow firing an AR or AK for accuracy, you must concentrate on each step to squeeze as much accuracy out of it as you can. Follow through and trigger reset are part of the process.

Overstated. I should have been more specific. This is an ak, ar debate, so I was simply saying that a 7.62 will penetrate better than a 5.56.

Horse hockey, follow through and holding before reset IS important but not more so with a semi than a bolt gun.

but the timing made it part of the trigger pulling process for him. That obviously isn't how he shoots the first shot. That way of doing it lacks consistency

I was just suprised at the accuracy at 440yds. The grouping was almost identical. Really wasnt trying to start a debate on this beat to death subject. They had the same sights on both guns, it was straight down the middle. I really would have liked to see what the AK74 would print like in the same scenario.

I can't watch this vid on my phone, but there's one that shows the AK and AR being fired in slow motion, and the AK is wiggling loosely all over the place. You can get one accurate shot(bolt coming forward isn't enough to shock the gun) but on follow up shots, accuracy is going to suffer from the gun moving in about 5 separate loosely connected parts. I do like the 7.62 round though.
Misspellings courtesy of iPhone, so sue me. Go ahead, take away my birthday!

You might wanna see this video before you comment on it. Apparently the AR doesnt have that big of an accuracy edge on the AK as previously thought. Not at 440yds at least.

The Ak 74 vs the Ar would be great, they are closer to the same round size and would make for a better comparison . I think I have seen a gentleman on YouTube that did a comparison. I will try to look it up.
