I agree and I do agree with some of the above posters. You really need to know someones story before you can judge them. Some disabilities will prevent people from working the rest of their lives. Yes people that milk the system because they figure they can get free money and are lazy should go to hell. But the people that really have the right to be on disability God bless them. Because those are the people that WANT to get up and go to work but unfortunately cannot. Also think about former people in the service who busted their ass and put their lives on the line everyday and are now on disability... They've done a s*** load more work then you've done in your life and can no longer do what they want. So before you come on here bashing people you have no idea about get a clue and get your facts straight. Who knows you're probably someone who got turned down from disability for stubbing your toe. Have a good day.

The VA pays for my degree programs. I am about to start my bachelors program next month. On top of complete tuition coverage, under 100% benefits I get a housing allowance every month. This helps pay my bills and debts a little bit.
Guess what? At the end of this month I am going before review to see if I qualify for compensation for PTSD, hearing loss, bad knees, bad back...looking at maybe 45-50% if I am lucky. Hopefully, that will help pay my debt and bills until I finish my degree program.
But I guess we are just leaches. Tell me, Adyta, what have you REALLY done to even be entitled to call everyone who draws a check leeches? Something near as admirable as relaying messages in a convoy with mortar teams dialing you in? I got decorated on the spot for that. Fact.
There is a huge difference between those lazy bums who use the system and some of the few who earned a little pay back.

ODin I don't see a thing in his post complaining about the va or gi benefits.

I have a friend who has been to every specialist in three different cities to try to find out what is wrong with him but no one can find anything. He says his knee is terrible yet he passes every test they throw at him be it riding a bike, walking stairs, MRI, XR, CT, jogging, etc. Up until recently he had a full ride on disability and sat on the couch, smoked his cigarettes, collected his food stamps, and even got a handicapped spot put on the road because "if they're going to give it to me, I'll take it."
Some people need disability, others abuse it just like the welfare system.

My mom has had one leg for the past 25 years, the knee on her good leg is giving out, and she works harder than anyone I know. Never even considered disability.
95% or more of the people on disability shouldn't be. Sorry you are in a wheelchair, but your hands and mouth work. You can still work.

You ask how a person can sit at a computer and be on disability, but some of those people can only sit at a computer for ten minutes at a time, and then they have to lay down.
There are alot of times computer work requires mental sharpness, but people on disablity for back are on several pain medications that can blurr there cognative abilities. And lets face it; not every one has the brains to do computer / desk work.
I think there are a lot of people who abuse the system, and I think they should not only be kicked off, but should have to repay it. However is all too easy for us to sit and judge someone on disablity; especially when it is not a physical disability that we can see. My father was put on disability because of his heart. If you looked at him you would have figured he was healthy and able to work, but that was not the case.
So be careful how harshly you judge others.

Pretty much this ^^^^
I've been disabled for over 10yrs. I'm fortunate that my wife works & can support our family. This means I've been able to stay of the gubberment teat.
To look at me, one would never know I'm disabled. Unless you catch me on a very bad day, I hide my pain fairly well. There are all sorts of disabilities that can keep someone from being able to function effectively in the real world.
Personally, I would love to find a company that would allow me to work at my computer 10-12hrs a week.
Oh, there is one very IMPORTANT requirement I have:
Be sure & let the company know-
(These hours must be of my own choosing and I may not be able to work more than 5min at a time on some days.)
Anybody know of a company like that?
What about you OP?
You seem to have the inside story. How about helping a guy out so I can feel like I contributing to my family. Frankly, I'm tired of feeling like a COMPLETE & TOTAL failure as a husband and as a father.
I would love to be able to get a good job & support my family!
Can someone, ANYONE, tell me WHERE these jobs the OP are talking about are?
OP; How do I go about finding such jobs & getting hired?
Again- I would love to be able to get a good job & support my family!

While this numbnode of an Op did not mention VA or veterans benifits , it was implyed. I agree with most here that while there are some cases of abuse. Most disabilty claims have merits. I know some that when they were younger, became disabled due to their jobs. Some where military and some were not. All of them wish that they could still have a regular job.
As it says in a great book. "Judge not, least you too will be judged."
Also anyone else notice that the OP has not taken part in the discussion. Another cowardly troll throwing out topics to get others stired up.

I dont know what some took from the OP`s statement but I did not read anything extra into anything
It seemed to me the OP was talking about the people that havent put hardly anything into a system yet are reaping benefits for the rest of their life, or he was talking about the people that can work but choose not to
For the folks that cant do things for themselves like they once could, it is completely understandable, wounded veterans especially
I didnt jump to any conclusions or try to add anything into the Op`s statement
I think the OP made the statement about the people taking advantage and abusing the system, atleast that is what I gathered and is why I agreed with the OP
As far as getting a job right now, it is not the peoples fault, that is another topic to be discussed in another section of the forums

Thank you for your service - as well as others who have risked everything to serve their country. Just think, you served to give self-important poeple like the OP the right of free speach even if they are morons.
