I am sick and tired of people leeching off other people simply because they have a bad back. It's pathetic.

The mentally retarded guy that can't walk and can barely talk has a full time job at Walmart, yet these bums sit at home watching Springer all day because they're missing a finger.

IMO the only people that should ever be on disability are

1. People who are so physically disabled they cannot even breathe on their own.
2. People who are NEWLY seriously injured. You lose a leg you have 6 months to get your **** in order, or you're gonna be missing a leg and homeless.
3. People who are injured temporarily (broken arm, surgery, etc.) but are not covered under workmans comp.

Don't say it's an entitlement. Paying $120 a month into social security for 10 years then collecting $1,300 a month for 40 is a LEECH.

Well, well, well...mighty high and righteous today? Tell you what, I don't want to hear you complain about a single thing until you go serve on the front lines. Come back with PTSD, jacked up knees and back. Nobody wants to hire you because you don't have a viable skill set beyond killing people professionally.

The VA pays for my degree programs. I am about to start my bachelors program next month. On top of complete tuition coverage, under 100% benefits I get a housing allowance every month. This helps pay my bills and debts a little bit.

Guess what? At the end of this month I am going before review to see if I qualify for compensation for PTSD, hearing loss, bad knees, bad back...looking at maybe 45-50% if I am lucky. Hopefully, that will help pay my debt and bills until I finish my degree program.

But I guess we are just leaches. Tell me, Adyta, what have you REALLY done to even be entitled to call everyone who draws a check leeches? Something near as admirable as relaying messages in a convoy with mortar teams dialing you in? I got decorated on the spot for that. Fact.

There is a huge difference between those lazy bums who use the system and some of the few who earned a little pay back.

This could have been a constructive thread if it wasnt so blatant. I would have enjoyed a nice debate on the abuses of disability and government programs. However, as it stands, I don't agree with the OP that everyone on these systems abuse them. There are many, many people deservingly on these programs. There is however, also rampant abuse of same.

There is, without question, widespread abuse, just as there is with any system. There will ALWAYS be people who take advantage of just about anything you can name.

For someone to make ignorent, insensitive generalizations about EVERYONE who is recieving disability benefits shows me this person is either uneducated or weak of mind and full of hate from his own stupidity.

Just like many things in our government these programs need reform, and those abusing them should be made examples. However, for you to say it should be nearly non-existant is cold and selfish. I dont mind doing my part to make sure "my fellow americans", our brothers and sisters have what they need to get themselves righted again. Do you know why? Because I would expect my country to stand behind me if the table was suddenly flipped. This country has lost the sense of unity, and it makes me sad.
