Question Gun insurance?

Just curious if anybody else has there firearms insured. I had been worried about my rifles/pistols being covered due to theft or fire by our homeowner insurance. After reading our homeowner policy & talking w/my agent it only covered up to like $2,000. I have one rifle worth more rhan that & it got me thinking/worrying about my collection. So the wife & I just recently took out a insurance policy to cover all our firearms that cover theft, fire, or any kind of loss pretty much even if dropped in a lake. It's called a personel articles policy w/zero deductible. Gives us a piece of mind since our collection has grown especially over the past couple of years. Just curious if anyone else has done such or how you protect your gear/firearms. Does not cover ammo though!!!

I had a rider just for firearms due to the overall price of them collection. My insurance policy had $0.00 deductable also. Mine was with state farm and with the homeowners insurance they would only cover 2k until I got the extra rider. Sadly the collection was lost in a horible boating accident and the money I got back just went to bills.

State Farm is also who we use & have for 12+ years now on vehicles & home. Great insurance company IMO if there is such a thing!

I thought the exact same thing, until my wife and I just bought our first house. State Farm's insurance quote on the house was well over what another company qouted us for, for the same policy and coverage. So we looked at the auto portion, and compared them as well. Again even with us being a 7 year State farm customer the "discount" we got was nothing compared to the policy Farm Bureau quoted us. Both home owner's AND auto were MUCH higher with State farm. Im talking "about "400 more per year on the house, and about $65'ish per month on our both of our cars.

Neither of us have filled a claim, or had any form of accident in the 7 years we have been State farm customers. So if you do the math we saved 65'ish per month on full coverage on 2 cars, and "around" 400 a year on house insurance. Thats a grand total of 12 months x $65 savings ( $780) + 400 = $1180 in savings.. for the SAME $ amount of coverage per car/accident/ injury/hospitilzation/house damage, etc etc. Ya, were going with Farm Bureau.

Mine are listed specifically by model and SN on my homeowners policy. I have a 5k limit on firearms.

just remember they take 10% off the value each year.... so you won't get all that much

I lost a pistol to theft, and the homeowners tried to depreciate it, so I corrected the agent as to the actual value of the gun in question.
