As for Martin doing nothing illegal, I'm relatively sure that you are correct about that. That is, he was doing nothing illegal until he physically assaulted Zimmerman.

The truth is, with Martin unable to testify as to who started the fight or what he was doing when Zimmerman first saw him and no other witnesses to anything except Martin beating up on Zimmerman, the prosecution has almost no case and Zimmerman is likely to go free.
