at the time I didnt know that I needed 31 posts to reply to his post so I sent him a private message saying I was interested and to please give me a call. I later sent the admin a message asking why I couldnt post anything and realized about the posting restriction. He was selling 2 of them and when I spoke to him he said they were both new. I told him I had a friend who may want the other and I would let him know asap about it. He then said he made a mistake on the posted price. He honored the originally posted price. He then said he was going to hold the other for himself and not sell it. It was done through live conversation and text message. No detailed pics of the item since it was being sold as new. I am a trustworthy person. I deal with people all day every day on the phone as I am a mortgage banker, so I have people trust me and I trust them until I am given a reason not to.
Fail!
There's a reason this forum and other have a minimum post count requirement to use the classifieds. Going around it by PM was mistake number 1. In fact, I think that's a bannable offense.

Mistake 2 was not getting pics. Why in the hell would you trust someone you've never met? A lot of people are dishonest. Get your head out of the sand.

I don't have the time to post mistake 3.

I just tried to get a loan and I don't even have a credit score. I had to get a checking and saving then get a credit card. right now I am in process of getting a credit score.
Pay your credit card bill completely off monthly. Don't spend more than you can't fully pay in one month. Don't be over 30 days late on a payment. You'll have a great score within a year.

The guy sent him the item. It's missing a part but how would the outcome be any different if using Paypal, Check, Money order? It wouldn't be. And there would still be nothing he could do about it. I mean all he has now are messages that the seller wanted him to commit a crime and that the seller has done it in the past. That's not going to get him his money back or the part he needs. At this point, he should just see about obtaining a replacement battery door.
We all know there are less than honest people among us and there's always a risk of doing business online regardless of payment method. It does suck that there's a shady ********* right in this very community and he's done nothing to try to right the situation. He's even gone so far as to admit his wrong doing and then ask the buyer to do his illegal dirty work. He should be banned asap!

Yep. You can file fraud and actaully get your money back. Paypal is very pro-buyer. With WU, you can file a claim, but they won't do jack.

MAIL FRAUD
18 U.S.C. 1341, makes it a Federal crime or offense for anyone to use the United States mails in carrying out a scheme to defraud.

A person can be found guilty of that offense only if all of the following facts are proved: First: That the person knowingly and willfully devised a scheme to defraud, or for obtaining money or property by means of false pretenses, representations or promises; and Second: That the person used the United States Postal Service by mailing, or by causing to be mailed, some matter or thing for the purpose of executing the scheme to defraud.

Mail fraud and wire fraud are federal crimes. This jackass may be in more trouble than he understands. Post his name so we can chase the scumbag off, then file a report on him.

my lender is indicating to me that as soon as I get the card I should buy something small and pay it off immediately. 30 days later (according to my bank they report every 30 days) my lender will get my credit score and I'll have my home loan.

sounds over simplified but I am going with what my lender tells me.

Yes listen to your lender, within reason. The other post is so full of wrong I am going to just ignore it. Good luck with the home loan.
