I need a rifle barrel threaded. *Pics added*
I want to thread the barrel of my Marlin 22 for an eventual suppressor, want the same threads as the AR so I have as many options as possible.
Question is, I want it done RIGHT, so who can I send it off to? Good price, good reputation etc.

I watched Shooting Gallery last week with this episode. These guys have their crap together on a suppressor. I would recommend going their way for that and threading.

Ask around in your LGS's, Usually the shop owners can point you in a right direction....I've got a local guy here thats a very accomplished gunsmith. Met him one day at a shop I frequent...got his business card. He had a few guns he had just finished up in his car outside that he let me look over as I was considering some revolver work as well as a thread job on one of my CZ rimfires.

I'm actually thinking of doing this myself now, I've been using taps and dies forever but I was worried about getting it straight. Found an alignment tool at Brownells to start it true so I might spring for the parts, I don't think I have a die handle the right size though.

Looks like nice work but I can pretty much get all the tools to do it myself for that price plus shipping..

DON'T do that!
I've been threading things for a long time now, and I wouldn't consider that. I know how to use a lathe, and I'd CONSIDER threading MY OWN barrel for a suppressor. I WOULD NOT try it with a die unless it was held in a holder in the tailstock of a lathe. I'd rather single point thread it, just because that's the accepted way to do it. Getting a die on the barrel straight enough to make this work is difficult to say the least, I wouldn't try it if you want it done right the first time. If you're trying to learn, go ahead. It's thousandths of an inch of error between success, and failure, not easy.

It has to absolutely dead nuts straight for a silencer, or you just ruined a very expensive silencer with a very expensive tax stamp on it on your first shot down range.
I wouldn't trust a thread alignment tool to be that precise. sometimes even the factories get it wrong.

Is the Marlin's barrel over 1/2" in diameter?
