Clearly, you didn't pick up on the sarcasm.

I agree that one should not be able to drive under the influence, but you should not lose your right to carry for simply smoking pot. A person won't lose their rights because of drinking a beer. But, smoking while carrying would definately be a no go.
The problem with treating it exactly like alcohol is testing. Alcohol is out of your system very quickly compared to pot. And then there is the degree to which a person is impared. For booze we have the BAC and a person is fine up to a certain level. AFAIK the only test for drugs is positive or negative, not a test of "how high" a person is. So a person could get in trouble for something they did a few days ago. This would be a hurdle that would have to be overcome.
In all, I think it is a good idea, for many reasons.

While that may be correct, drinking a beer is still not a felony.

Someone could essentially lose their rights by drinking beer. Ive known people that could not function in daily life without being high. That was the first thing they did in the morning, and the last thing they did at night. I wouldnt give that person a slingshot, much less a firearm.
Soooo.....this is my phone

Given the right circumstances, yes, one could lose their rights because of one beer. A person should not ever carry while drinking alcohol or smoking drugs, ever. Or drive, for that matter. I was just saying that smoking a joint on Tuesday should not exempt you from carrying a gun on Wednesday. The person I quoted made a statement that came across as saying if a person was a pothead they should not be allowed to carry a gun. I just wanted to clarify that I think they should be able to do so, just not while they are under the influence.
It should be treated like alcohol, there are just a few wrinkles that would have to be worked out, because it is not exactly apples to apples.
