I am a provider, when my receptionist checks my patients insurance benefits, they tell her that he/she has $2,800 in coverage every 3 years.

P.S. We are talking about mostly United Healthcare here.....

Anyways, on top of that a state law in Arkansas went into effect requiring a minimum of $2800 in coverage every 3 years. This is NOT subject to deductibles or copayments. Here is a link to the law:

http://www.insurance.arkansas.gov/Le...ns/7A-2009.pdf

The main culprit here is United Healthcare. I have problems with others, but almost every time with them. They tell me they cover $2,800......the law requires them to cover $2,800.......and they put me through the hoops everytime.

Hell, I am still messing around with them on a claim from July of 2010.

We don't have the time or money to fight a big insurance company in court. I am just so sick of it. It is always a straight up denial or partial payment.

GRRRRRR..............

You oughtta write Gov. Huckabee. I know he is done governing, but I bet he would love to know about this and could probably guide you where you need to go.

I took my health insurance company to Small Claims Court and won. That is one suggestion.

In my state we have a Insurance commissioner (elected official) or check with the Attorney General's office.

Sorry I can't be of any help to you, but while we're here, maybe someone has some insight to a little pickle I'm in:

Jan 2011: Got a knee X-ray at a local hospital in Northern VA.
April 2011: Received a letter/call from the hospital requesting that I verify my policy number, which I did.
Every month after that: A call from a debt collection agency for 600+ dollars.

For the first year they claimed that the Insurance company did not have my policy number on file, so I had them recite the policy number back and the 2nd and 3rd letters were always swapped. I politely corrected them each time. This has been going on every month or two for some time.

Today, 14 months after the X-ray, I received a call from the debt collection agency stating that my insurance company refused to pay the hospital because too much time has passed (I suppose 180+ days) and that I would have to pay the amouint.

1) Too much time has passed because the hospital registration staff initially made a mistype on my policy number.

2) I've corrected it with the hospital and the debt collection agency numerous times since.

So I guess my question is, how will they force me to pay this debt? What if I don't pay? It would cost more to lawyer up than to pay the bill.

I'd inform your patients that you are going to stop accepting that insurance because they don't pay up like they should.
