Window AC unit's scrap metal worth?
I have 2 AC unit's that work, but are of no use to me anymore since I've moved.. just wondering if anyone knew what you could get out of one at a scrap yard

you wont get anything for scrap, and they might not even accept them with Freon inside.
put up on craigslist for $25 each or donate them.

Correction, 1 of them works.. They are in my parents house that they moved out of and didnt want them...
I couldnt scrap the copper and metal inside?

IF there is copper inside, mine is aluminum.
still, not enough there to be worth hassling. Curb it and let the scrappers who do truck-loads at a time mess with it.

Could be a good item for a small workshed or a garage or camper or something.
If not I agree with groo. You may even get more fulfillment out of donating it than selling it.

Most older window AC units have 2 coils. One is all aluminum and one is copper tubing and aluminum fins. I scrapped several from some of my rental houses last year. IIRC we got about $15 to $18 for each set of 2 coils. Housings went to one of my workers. At $200 - $300/ton, I don't have a big enough truck or enough time to mess with that type of scrap.

Set them on the curb, in the evening, with a sign for $50 each. They will be gone by morning!
