My thing is I want my Rifle to be a legitimate 1000 yard gun, I'm a barrel, and a scope away from it werking. 400 yards for elk, 700 for deer, and 1k+ for varmints is my goal, for my .308

Haha, that is the bad thing about guns.
You could buy a new barrel and scope, or get another new gun (or two)

yup, but this is my project. With a .308 I can take any animal I have any plan to hunt. barrel will be about 500 more likely a bunch less, but the scope I want is closer to $2K...good thing my list of guns I "need" only has like 5 more on it, and only 3 that I totally need

I made the mistake of typing ruger 10/22 into Amazon.

yup. My $300 dollar scope is pretty darn good, but since F Class shooting, just for fun, is something I want to do, I'll need to up my scope
