Try the Timberland Pro Series. They are waterproof and comfortable right out the box. I've been wearing them for approximately 2 years now and love them. I work 12 hour shifts on my feet and swear by these boots. They're awesome.

Danner is a great boot! I have a pair that I paid $200 for at Wholesale sports. They are amazing. Here's a link to ones that are very similar to the ones I own. Danner - Quarry? Logger? 2.0 GTX Plain Toe Work Boots - Boots

+1 to Tiplblack. I have the XL Toe Storm Force boot. Like it alot. They are warm and have a composite safety toe.

Another upvote for Timberlands. I receive an annual work shoe allowance, and I bought a pair of Timberlands last year that are so good looking and comfortable (despite the safety toe) that I won't even wear them to work, I use them as a pair of my more stylish street shoes.

I like my Ariats personally. I don't have the steel toes but I know that Ariat makes some with the steel toe. They are incredably comfortable I have had the pair I have on right now for 5 years with no issues. I have not had an issue with waterproofing but they are battery acid proof. If you have a cavenders they stock lots of Ariats in a variety of styles and colors

I love my RedWings. Won't wear anything else. Just wish they made half sizes above 12. I would also like to try Wolverine boots though. American made and local to me in Michigan.

Another vote for Redwings. Just got my first pair for Christmas. They're a bit spendy (200-300,) but super comfy right out of the box, nice and warm, and they're made in the USA. Dunno how they'll stack up to their durability claims yet, since I've only worn em for 3 days now, but with a 12 month warranty I am optimistic. Also great pricing on repairs, should you ever need it.
