I'm pretty young at 24 but I completely agree with this. Now don't get me wrong I love my "smart phone", but the blatant lack of respect for other people these days is ridiculous. I just got out of a relationship with a girl who I felt her phone was more important than me. She was addicted to Facebook which was a big turn off for me. Constantly all day long she was texting or on stupid Facebook. If wed go to dinner her phone was on her lap so she could answer messages right away. It was really irritating. If I'm in a conversation with someone 9 times out of 10 I won't answer my phone or text. If I'm just hangin out with friends or something well that's different.
All this technology is just ruining human interaction. I don't have a Facebook, MySpace, twitter or any other garbage. Call me old fashioned but anybody I care to talk to has my phone number and knows where to find me. I don't need people " poking " me on some social networking site. Along the lines of Facebook and such, those things are just bad news. I understand they can help you reconnect with people but also they can help you rekindle and old flame or develope a new relationship for example. That's what happened to me. I should have seen it coming with as much time as she spent on Facebook. She was talking to one of my best friends for over 6 months behind my back while he was on deployment. Complete crap. Facebook and the like are enablers for bad ideas. I can tell you one thing, my next girl will not have a Facebook or anything like that.
Hopefully there is still someone out there that agrees with me.

I agree with the frustration of texting people. I use my iPhone 4 work and personal, and even with work, I don't answer a call (client or not) while speaking with a client. It's just rude.
On the flip side of that, while with friends at the bar, there are times when things should not be said aloud and we have texted back and forth about things while across the table. Makes it right? No; but some situations may call for that. In general, it's the loss of social skills of society and the dependance of technology to be "connected."

I use my iPhone 4s to play Angry Birds at the intermissions of the local SPHL hockey games.
How are those damn pigs so smart to build their defenses! And why do the birds leave their eggs laying on the ground? Morons!

They're great for prison as well. No texting in there.
I hate when other people are more concerned about what others are doing than enjoying themselves. If it isn't interrupting me and my time or safety, text away.

Honestly, I'd rather have them quietly texting then having a loud conversation about god knows what. Seriously, Restaurants are nicer to be in these days because there's less people being loud and stupid while they are texting other people. It works for me.
