IPSC competition question
I was watching a video of a competition, and noticed that the shooter is followed by an official of some sort. The official holds some sort of device behind (obviously) the shooter and above his head as he follows the shooter from place to place. What is he doing?
Thanks for your replies! |

He is the Range Officer (RO). He is holding a timer with a microphone. The RO will start the course by pressing a buzzer that starts the timer going. The microphone in the timer records every shot and at the end of the course of fire displays the time elapsed between the start of the course and your last shot. Your points scored are divided into the total time it took you to run the course and that gives you your hit factor. All of your hit factors come together to rank you for the match.
