I'm confused as well, because I didn't think we were disagreeing.

Very well, then. A good evening to you, sir.

Those are pretty much the best all around 9mms that have proven themselves. Can't go wrong with any of these guns.

I just ordered the P226 for my father for Father's Day...but with the rail. Why don't you like the rail?

It is not as famous here in the US but it is very famous in Europe. I maybe mistaken but I read that it is supposed to be based on Browning's Hi-Power (another excellent choice but expensive) design and one of the original wonder 9.
For the record, I own an XDm and it is a great gun but my CZ is just a bit better for me. As mentioned, YMMV.
Note the suggestions to narrow your search but hold and fire the "finalists" to really find the best for you.
Good luck!!!

I have the M&P 9 , Glock 19-9mm & XDM 9 3.8...For range only I would go for the Glock one of my favorite range guns. For all around range/carry you cannot beat the XDM 3.8. The interchangable grips make the gun perfect for folks like me that are small hand challanged.

He didn't say he don't like the rail. I think he mentioned that to point out the origin and production time which is when Sig are producing their best IMHO.

Sounds like my experience with the XDm also...I didn't want to give it back when I was at the gun shop!

True.
It is no secret that the best P-series SIGs were the earlier, sheet metal slide, W. German and Swiss made guns. Five minutes on SIG Forum and you'll figure that out.
The newer SIGs can be great guns, but the QC tends to go up and down. Chances are you will get a good one, but a safer bet (and a cheaper one0 is to buy an older SIG.
I have older models of the P220, P228 and P225 and would buy a P226 in a heartbeat. The Navy SEALs and British SAS carry the P226...so the pedigree is definitely there.
