Hearing Protection!

Yesterday morning while spending the mortgage payment for a tankfull of gas, I encountered a young dude filling his tank at the pump with his doors open and his "music" blasting away. A lady filling up behind me had to sit in her van with the windows up just to get away from the ching, ching ching, boom, boom, boom of the LOUD music.

Not having my XD 45 handy to shoot out his stereo, I decided to take a more legal sort of action. I opened both my truck doors and popped in a CD cranking it up as loud as I possibly could short of blowing my speakers. The lady sitting in the van cracked up as I mouthed to her: BEATLES, I WANNA HOLD YOUR HAND! The disgusted look the young dude gave me was priceless.

So next time some young dude has his car stereo blasting ching, ching, ching, boom, boom, boom, roll your windows down, throw in one of your CDs and crank up YOUR music to make him miserable.

I recommend, loud, driving, classic rock such as Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath or the Who. What really gets em is reeeeal twangy country artists such as Merle Haggard or Conway Twitty. I'm currently looking for some East Indian Folk Dance Music. That ought to take the paint off their car.

What? I can't hear you. I must be listening to too much loud music.

Actually, I stick pretty much to talk radio.

I'm one of those guys with a loud stereo that listens to music you probably dont like . (Although i never have it loud enough to annoy anyone at night and I turn it way down when i enter any parking lot or residential neighborhood.) I do the same thing you did all the time. Except my stereo is loud enough to drown out the boom, boom, ching, ching coming from most any other car with some Deicide or Danzig or even Allman Bros.

Karma will get him. Filling up with the car running will eventually throw a check engine light for evaporitive emissions control circuit which is a pain to diagnose.

Yep, that and driving off without putting the gas cap on and/or on properly. They've gone to a vacuum test on the tanks to insure evap. emissions go down and leaks in general. So if your light comes on right after fueling, ck the cap for proper install.

I am with the loud music crowd. But I got it honest. Every piece of stereo equipment I have ever put in a vehicle has been with the help of my Dad. We have built several subwoofer boxes, and installed nice replacement speakers in the factory positions. I could pop out and replace a CD player pretty quickly. That was usually the first thing we did when a new car came home. But I am respectful of others, and whenever I am at a light and hear someone else's, it makes me cringe. Why not just put a big sign on your car saying "Look at me, I'm an a-hole!" About the only time I crank mine up is on the interstates, or if I'm by myself. The rest of the time it stays at a conversational level and you can always talk over it with no problems. I always turn it down through neighborhoods, parking lots, or at stoplights. And it is not always booming music. I listen to a wide variety. Country, rock, alternative, rap, classic rock, and I'll even throw in some Christmas music during the season. But the other night, I did just what you were talking about at a light. I was stopped, and this old car with a couple of young guys pulled up, with some rap blaring, all the windows down, with them yelling along with it. We were the only two cars at the light, and they kept looking over at me. I have a nice box with a pair of 12 inch subs in the back, so I rolled down all the windows and cranked up some Ludacris as loud as it would go. Both of their jaws dropped at this white boy with his booming sound system. It easily drowned out what they were listening to.
