This is just like everything else...someday, somewhere, he will say to himself: "self, those guys look like a bunch of morons doing [fill in the blank here], I used to do that and now I realize how dumb that is/was."

I had such a moment about 10 years ago (keep in mind I am now a facility director at a university) after some kids laid some patches on our central green...tearing up our grass with a burn out that was at least 50' long.

I then remembered back in 1981 when I did just the same thing to my high school in my '74 Monte Carlo...I thought, "damn, this really does come back around...just like Dad said it would!"

I don't have time to worry about stuff like that anymore. Much more important things than petty stuff like kids blasting music at the gas station. I used to at one point...
Just note that when he gets older his hearing will probably suck. I get satisfaction out of that alone.

i have a bad habit of filling up with the engine running and both of my vehicles have given me problems with check engine lights coming on.

Yep, that and driving off without putting the gas cap on and/or on properly. They've gone to a vacuum test on the tanks to insure evap. emissions go down and leaks in general. So if your light comes on right after fueling, ck the cap for proper install.
a loose gas cap will throw a CEL but filling up with the car running ruins some sensor that also throws a CEL but tightening the gas cap won't fix it. It stays on till you replace some expensive parts. Ex girlfriend had it happen. She wouldnt listen to me.
