Cigars anyone?

This is a discussion on Cigars anyone? within the XDTalk Chatter Box forums, part of the XD Talk category; I'm a AF Hemingway fan myself but variety keeps it interesting. I just got my hands on some Oliva V Maduros from 2008....

haha...I used the big America that came in a neat little wooden box to light all of the fireworks on last year's 4th.

I like that and the Italia. The CX and MX are both nice as well

Mine just came in on Monday. I've been puffing on Backwoods for about 15 months now and decided that I want to explore the world of the finer cigars. I have no idea of what I'll like, but am thinking of writing a blog about a newbie in the cigar aficionado world.

I don't know if I can afford another addicting hobby, shooting twice week already chews up what little extra cash I have right now.

It looks like my Thursday Bullseye league might get rained out today so my first "good" cigar will be the Perdomo 10th Anniv. Champagne this afternoon.

I'm already researching humidors. Is Famous-Smoke reasonable or are there better place to shop for them?

The 10th Anniv. Champagne is very nice and mild. My roommate and I actually just smoked one last night. Very enjoyable.

I use Famous Smoke a lot. They usually have real nice close out deals on some samplers and stuff. I also use Cigars International, and they have a deal a day site that is nice some times, called Joe Cigar Daily Deal. In fact the deal today are some very nice smokes that Cigar International makes (5 vegas brand).

I am quite partial to the Taboo Twist from Taboo cigars... soo good.

cigaradvisor.com is a direct link off the Famous site. I've learned quite a bit there, but will check all links out. Thanks

Another good forum, kind of picky about etiquette though... cigarpass.com

I smoked the Perdomo 10th Anni. Champagne after work today (and still shot the Bullseye!) It was a big jump from Honey Berry Backwoods to a Premium cigar.
1.) I was taken aback by the 54 ring gauge size. I think a smaller size would be more comfortable for me.
2.) I think I cut too much of the cap off. It felt like I was drawing through a radiator hose.
3.) I did feel a bit light headed while smoking it. Probably smoking it too much.
I enjoyed the aroma and how well it stayed lit. I set it down, shot my slow fire round and picked it up and it was still lit. I do think there is some value in advice from experienced smokers on how to optimize my experience. I'll wait a month before I smoke the 2nd 10th Champagne stick. I think it will be much more enjoyable.
Shooting Highlights: a 90 Slow Fire and a 96 Rapid Fire. unfortunately not in the same round. Low points: crappy Timed Fire rounds.
