my son is so happy

My son turned 7 on Saturday (no, that's not an April Fool's joke), and I got him his first rifle. Needless to say, he's an excited kid.

In order to impress how big of a step this is for him, I devised a "firearm safety contract" for him to sign. Simple, but it works.

We're heading to the range on Wednesday, weather permitting.

Is that a Crickett?
I just read in American Handgunner an article about their pistol...no wait, that was the Chipmunk...sorry.

Still, nice looking rifle...I know your boy must be jumping with excitement...now to remember where I heard of the Crickett...

Maybe from a movie?

Seriously, this is a great idea. nice rifle. I'm sure he's crazy w/ excitement.

The contract is an awesome idea. I'm going to use it for when my kids are old enough to start shooting. Thanks!!

Nice finger position.
Good work teaching fundamentals.
I look forward to the same experience someday; probably with the same rifle.

Awesome!

I've already got my daughter her first rifle, and she's only 8 months old Its a 1935 Winchester 62A my grandfather had (bought new) and taught my mom to shoot with when she was a little girl. I inherited it (along with a few others) when he passed away.
