Well you can't carry pepper spray on an airplane either and being here for three days, not sure where I'd get it.

Man, it was so predictable when you know what you are looking for. I'm 6'4" and over 200lbs so I can look big and these little twerps were small but definitely up to no good. You can just see it in their eyes. Plus as I walked by they looked at my digital SLR with the big lens like it was a woman in a mini. Drooling. After they passed I picked up the pace but not so much to be noticeable. I stopped to look in a store window to give me an excuse to check them out. When I looked back they were walking fast behind me and were looking directly at me. As I looked at them they each turned their head away which is a dead give-away that they were following me. Crooks are stupid. I took a right turn down an alley to bait them as the alley eventually ended up back to my right which I figured they knew and would try and flank me. But when I went up the alley I hopped over a fence and went back to the left and then back up the street where they were following me. I tried not only to look like I knew they were there, but I tried to offer them a what they thought would be an easy flanking. I never saw them but they must have taken the bait or I would have seen them on the same street I went back down. I then went back to a populated place. The interesting thing is where I was was pretty populated. These guys were definitely out looking for trouble. I think if I had my firearm I would have done the same as I would not want to have to pull it, but I tell you if it were between pulling it and losing 10K of equipment and getting jumped, I would have pulled it. In my state you can shoot if you "believe" you are going to be physically harmed. Well they'd have to harm me to get the camera equip so I think I'd be justified. 4 guys on 1 could be serious harm.

well if it was canon gear, you just shoulda let them have it. however if it was nikon equipment then you def shoulda had your handgun

Now in my old film days as a pro photographer I had all Nikon, Sinar, and Hasselblad equipment. As far as digital, Canon has definitely let the way. Nikon makes a good product but they started way behind on the digital bandwagon and haven't caught up yet. At this point I think it's getting to be a matter of preference or rather what lenses you have collected.
