FBI NICS Advisory
If you are planing buying your XD on April 2nd. in USA take note:

Please be advised that the FBI will be performing system maintenance on the Interstate Identification Index (III) and the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). This maintenance is necessary to implement a future enhancement of FBI systems. This system maintenance will occur on Sunday, April 2, 2006, from 12:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. During this outage, no NICS transactions will be processed through the call centers, through the NICS E-Check or the NICS Customer Service. The FBI NICS Section apologizes for any inconvenience this outage may cause. We assure you that the FBI NICS Section is committed to providing quality assistance to support the valuable services provided by the FFLs to ensure the timely transfer of firearms to law-abiding citizens.

Well, Georgia passed a few bills last year SB 175 (HB 359) which became effective July 1, 2005. The GBI either gave up doing NICS or didn't keep the database updated. Either way it's up to the FBI now and you need a NICS, even if you have a CCW permit in GA

Not here.

Washington carry permits DO NOT qualify. You still have to go through NICs even with a carry permit. You DO get to take the gun home right away if you have a carry permit, if you don't have a permit then you have to wait 5 days.
