ups or fed-ex wont ship my xd
After my xd 9 starting having extraction issues I decided to send it back to Springfield. However, when I called both ups and fedex here locally they told me they in no way, shape, or form ship firearms. So I called the gun store where I bought it and they told me they could ship it for me for $30.00. Will Springfield reimburse me that amount or am I just going to have to eat it?
Anyone else have shipping issues or am I the lucky one as usual Getting more frustrated by the hour Thanks

That's a crock what FedEx or UPS says. You've obviously runing into employees that don't know their own rules. See this link: http://www.thegunzone.com/ship-guns.html

You have to go to a UPS center.
http://www.ups.com/dropoff?loc=en_US&WT.svl=SubNav Click on the above link and then scroll down and uncheck everything except: UPS Customer Centers** This is the location that will ship a firearm for you. Call them up and get instruction and you should be good to go. That said your gun shop is cheaper at $30 I payed about $46 to ship mine back but since it was under warranty I was refunded. Hope that helps mcb |

I've used fedex 7-8 times to ship handguns (I shipped 1 just last week). The person you talked to obviously had no idea what they were talking about. The only thing I can suggest is to print the firearm policy off of their website and take it with you to fedex. |

You also might want to try to get the gun store to lower their shipping cost (you did buy a gun from them). Anyone with an FFL license can mail handguns in the $8.00 USPS flat rate box if they want to. So even if they charge you $20, they are still making a profit of $12 for simply putting something in a box and mailing it.

Yes it can be a hassle with the local employees as you get these anti-gunners that think shipping a firearm is like shipping a kilo of coke. Even many supervisors are like this. Best thing to do is print the policy from Fedex's web site and take it in.

Cat Juggler, since you are in SLC, here is where you need to go:
UPS 2040 W PARKWAY BLVD West Valley City, UT 84119 It's just East of I-215, and just South of SR 201. Mine was shipped from there on Monday morning, cost me just shy of $48 for the cheapest option available. I imagine they would reimburse you for shipping from the gun shop, but who knows.

Ok guys thanks for your help. I think I will print a copy of UPS's policy and take it with me when I ship the gun.

I shipped out my XD-40 the other day via FedEx. I told the lady it was a firearm, she told me it had to be inoperable, I lied and said, "Yeah. It is."
The only stipulation is that you have to send it priority overnight (cost me $42!), but they will ship it. |
