Overkill asked about wiley-x's before. Yes, I own the SG1 and don't like them. They supposedly have great protective capabilities, but the quality of the pair I got is below par. First, they fog very quickly. I wore them for a long march and took them off after the first few miles because of this. Also the adhesive that attaches the foam cushioning to the eyepieces is weak, and the feeling of the foam sliding flopping under my eye drives me ape****.

If you are just going to wear them for the range, then they'll probably be okay. But if you are going to depend on them in an austere environment and/or for significant physical activity, I'd look elsewhere. Again, they are supposed to be really good for deflecting shrapnel, so I'd take them to Iraq in a pinch, but for the range I would find a more open-face design.

I use the Rudy Project "Rydon" model with inserts. Looked at Oakleys, but they only offer the corrective lens mated to the outter lens and no replacement warrranty. If you wear muffs while shooting, the size of the arms will affect the fit of the muffs. The Rydon has small arms as well as the new Exception model.
The Rudys come with 2 sets of lens and hard case.

If you don't want to break the bank I would go with ESS shooting glasses. http://www.gunnersalley.com/product/ESSGLASSES

I just got a pair a few weeks ago for $36, added an extra set of arms $12, the Rx Carrier $25, and the prescription lesnes were only about $40. For a little over $100 I had 3 different colored lenses that I could make 2 sets of glasses with (x1 non Rx, and x1 Rx).

R Dub, how much did the Rudys run you? I had looked at Oakleys and WileyXs, but they were so expensive it wasn't worth pursuing for me.

I don't need glasses all that often, so my ESSes serve double duty for shooting and driving during the times I need them. However, I'm still open to more stylish options that aren't exorbitantly expensive.

Seems like they were about $300 with the Rx and insert.

With these, you can get an optional RX insert. Most of the Body Spec eyewear have the option.

I bought a set of Zeiss shooting glasses off ebay (theres always a few sets in various styles for sale there) for 95 dollars and love them. Typical Zeiss/German quality, ultra comfortable and clear as a bell. They have a slight yellow tin, but not the dramatic yellow or amber of some glasses. They just ooze quality (typical of Zeiss products). Had them 3 years now and wouldn't trade them for anything. These are the Germans that make 1000 dollar riflescopes...they don't make junk.

If you want to spend a little more and get the best, search e-bay for a set of Zeiss shooting glasses. They're the best.

I got the wiley-x sg1 ordered today. In a few days I will see if they are gonna work for me. I work in an air-conditioned shop that doesn't get above 80 degrees so the sweat is not an issue. Shooting is another story because all mine is done outside. what was that other thread about wiley-x?
