I have been thinking about installing one of these cameras one the one side of the house where the "new" neighbors live. My dog's love just about anybody, and they USED to be fine when I mowed twice a week. Since the newbs moved in next door , my dogs get hostile to the mower when anyone mows, even me or the NEWB neighbor. I have busted them a few times teasing the dogs, and then they stop (ahhhh, mama son, big ugly white man come yelling like fool at me again when I tease dinner, no scrumptious dog for dinner tonight). With a camera there, just the sight of it would stop them, hopefully. Might stop them from using my sideyard as their playground and the side of my house as a ball backstop. THEY get angry when I tell them to not bounce a ball off my house!

I know what your talking about with those cameras.... we have 8 dome Toshiba cameras that can go 360 degrees and have night vision.... they are all hooked to a server all in all we spent over 40K for it but we were having our semi's broken into and having tv,vcr, dvd, refrigerators, radios, cb's, and personal goods walking off on us... also had some of our trucks paint balled but once we put the cameras in it all stopped... if you want an inexpensive camera that hooks to a VCR/TV so you can record while your not home to VHS or even with a DVD recorder you can buy this camera here... hope this helps thieves suck

I have cameras here too, but good luck getting them admitted as evidence. I have already run into that one a couple times and we have the proper signage saying that we have them. I bought a dog and put beware of dog signs up and don't have a problem, no salesman anymore either.

They get thrown out by the judge. One even said it was entrapment. The police love them for case building but when it comes to court the are not allowed. The one guy doing most of the car break in's has been put in jail for something but not because of our tapes. They told us he will be gone for a long time.

In the one case where we had somebody keep breaking into our tenants suites in our building, the police and detectives and DA's office are the one's who said a camera would be what was needed to put the person away. Before we put up the outdoor cameras at the other property, we had not only our lawyer firm but also the property owners lawyers find out if we could do anything positive with the film. Everything came back a resounding yes, do it.

This is the same legal firm that strongly recommended that we NOT post our properties with the "no guns" signs at the doors, in case somebody would get held up on site and would not be able to protect themselves. If the tenants want the "no guns" posted to "protect themselves" then they can post the noticces on their entrance doors.

tec, I of course don't know the laws in your state, but in Calif., bad guys who have been bitten by dogs during a break in have recovered damages when it can be shown the residents had signs posted, "beware of dog (s)."

It is interpreted as the owner is aware their animal is vicious and juries (bless their dumb little souls) have found for the suspects.

You might want to check the civil laws in your area or talk to an atty. to see if you might be liable in that instance.

My dog is a pitbull. She barks when she hears noise outside, but when they come in the she runs up to greet everyone. If it's someone she knows/likes she tends to pee on their shoes. Then she takes them over to where her treats are and cons them into giving her one.

The laws here are rediculous for pitbulls. She is supposed to be chained up in a pin, in a fenced in area and muzzled 24/7. I have insurance on her for $100k per incident up to 3 a year. As a responsable(sp) pitbull owner, if she ever growls at anyone she will be kept from visiters from that point on. A few people have given her the creeps and she always goes and sits next to the girl in my office. Then that person is given a verbal warning by me not to move any closer. Her warning is a whiney yelpy bark thing that means she feels threatened, and she will bite/attack if told to or the person makes any threatening moves or noises. When the situation is over or the person is gone, I take her outside to run around and play to burn off the adrenalin. My point is, that if my dog attacks, the person earned it.

Since this thread is on cameras...the dog has learned to come in and look at the monitors so she can see who it is. I think she looks for the cars because she likes the parts people and the cintas guy. She doesn't like the water guy but he doesn't go to the part of the building she has access to.
