Sweet! Florida got better because of our "shoot first, ask questions later" laws! We went from a D to an F+!!!! In addition, we have a bill in the works that would force business owners to allow firearms on their property...mostly in their parking lots IIRC.
ALERTS: Imminent Vote: No Compromise on Workplace Safety! Thanks in part to your emails and the outcry from the Florida business community, the Florida House Judiciary Committee has now tabled HB 129 twice! This "Guns in the Workplace" bill, if passed, would force businesses in Florida to allow guns on their own privately held, business-owned property, whether they want to or not! While the business community is holding firm in its opposition to the bill in any form, the NRA is gearing up for another run at the House Committee -- and -- in case that doesn't work, they are trying to sneak it through a Senate Committee as SB 206. We must kill this bill in whatever Committee in comes up in and hand the NRA a major defeat in one of its greatest strongholds.

I dont know what the Brady people are smoking, but it must be the good stuff......
Anyway, C for North Carolina. Why cant we have an F? If there is one thing that they will rejoice over, that really bothers me, its this one: SCHOOL ZONES Is it illegal for CCW permit holders to carry guns into schools? Yes North Carolina - State law restricts carrying firearms on school grounds, except for law enforcement personnel. Even people with permits to carry concealed weapons (CCW) are prohibited from carrying weapons onto school grounds. You know, CCW holders are law abiding citizens. Chances are, the criminal isnt, hence hes a criminal. Hes not going to think "oh, Im on a college campus, or walking into a store that has a no concealed weapons sign posted, let me run back to the car and get rid of my piece", hes going to walk right on with it. I dunno, it bothers me... |

Glad to see you all rejoicing. I'll add this to my "Top 10 reasons to move to Illinois" Thread.

I agree with JimLongley...WE DESERVE WORSE!!! Maybe all we need to do is put a little more effort into it and try harder. Even though Texas is only rated at 85% as far as gun freedom , we make up for it in attitude and passion. Come on Brady Bunch, give us the F- (unless you have something lower like maybe a Z-?) that we deserve. PLEASE!!!

One reason I can think of for Texas not getting a better... er... worse... better? Uh... closer to F... grade... The concealed carry requirements are a little more stringent, it seems... A hunter's safety course is enough for a permit in Virginia (Hell, simply being raised around guns seemed to qualify me.), but in Texas, you gotta spend more bucks and more formal time on it first...
I say that's a bad thing for freedom's sake, but... hey.

Schumer must be proud. And to think I may have to move there for a job.
